| Did you know that WEF has provided over $93,000 since 2015 in innovation grants to inspire our teachers to dream big and enhance their classrooms?
Thank you to our school families and community members for all your generous donations to the Wiseburn Education Foundation for helping us support our schools. We have raised approximately $140,000 this year, and need $65,000 more to reach our goal! The funds support all of our children throughout the District by providing visual and performing arts education, healthy lifestyle programs, innovation teacher grants and STEAM-based activities.
WEF's suggested donation is $150 per student for school families. Donations from local business, corporations, and community members are also needed to keep our public schools strong. Click the button below to donate now! |

Rock Around the Block 2019 Raised Over $70,000Thank you to our community, schools, families, friends, and business partners for helping making the 16th Annual Rock Around the Block a smashing success! Together we raised over $70,000 to provide visual and performing arts education, healthy lifestyle programs, teacher innovation grants, and STEAM-based activities throughout the Wiseburn Unified School District. WEF welcomed over 1,000 members of the Wiseburn community on April 6, 2019. Students from Wiseburn-Da Vinci High School's Rock Band, Dana Middle School’s Symphony and Jazz Band, as well as Anza and Burnett’s Elementary School Bands, performed a variety of selections. Led by WUSD Art Teacher Tiffany Graham, several students from Burnett Elementary School participated in a live painting event during the Symphonic Band's performance and their works of art were auction live at the event.

| The Juan de Anza Learning Center gives all students the opportunity to thrive in various and unique ways. The most recent WEF contribution to the success of the students in the Learning Center was the addition of new and varied manipulatives. Manipulatives, provided by the WEF grant, are used during mathematics as a way for students to count, document what they have counted, and solve CGI based word problems.
Additionally, manipulatives assist students in the transition from concrete experiences to abstract reasoning. This transition from concrete to abstract allows for the students at Juan de Anza to build interest in and experience with mathematics. The manipulatives also help students develop language arts skills by being asked to made to explain their reasoning for their findings in both subjects. |
| Dana Middle School Spanish language students participated in Free Voluntary Reading (FVR) this school year. Through an innovation grant from WEF, students were provided with a variety of reading material available at different language proficiency levels. The presence of the library in the classroom excited students. FVR gave students another chance to engage with the language in a way that was meaningful for them.
Teacher Amanda Gragg told WEF, "I was most excited to watch students realize that they understood far more than they thought themselves capable. That confidence boost is so important for their future engagement in the language learning process and I'm glad that our classroom library gave them the opportunity to develop that sense of self-efficacy."
