Welcome to May DG Sisters!

After the extended “Sprin-ter” (Spring/Winter) it looks like we’ve finally arrived at Spring!

Even though we may be out of school,  the school year calendar still has a hold on the rhythm of many an organization, making May a whirlwind of wrapping up a year, celebrating and moving on to whatever is next.  As I write this, I’m looking forward to the Greater KC Panhellenic Women of the Year event, where an outstanding alumna from each sorority is recognized.  Elizabeth Alex will make DGs proud as our honoree this year.  The 30th Trolley Run is Sunday and it looks to be a gorgeous morning to “Wake Up * Kick Asphalt * Repeat”  Then… just a few more days before our final gathering of the year Fiesta de las Delta Gamma!  Can’t wait and hope you’ll join in the fun!

KCDG is wrapping up another successful Night of Knowledge and Nonsense and thanks to your generosity, we are able to support important programs for visually impaired persons of all ages in Kansas City as well as the work of the Delta Gamma Foundation.  It is not too late to contribute and every donation large or small counts! Click the Logo to donate.

We’re thrilled to count 299 local dues paying members this year!  I hope you know how grateful we are that you support the chapter and its activities including interesting programs, outreach to collegiate chapters, opportunities to do good and my lavish compensation package.

It has been a privilege and an honor to serve as your president this year.  Doing so has given me an even deeper appreciation for the legacy of our strong local chapter.  I’ve learned so much from having the chance to work beside so many smart, fun and talented women.   Jennifer Parker-Burrus is getting ready to take the helm and I can’t wait to see what we can do next year under her capable leadership.

In the bonds,
Susan Kastner, Mu

Oh! So close! We are inches away from our celebratory drawing for 300 paid members. If you have not paid your 2017-18 local dues, please hurry. As soon as we reach that number we WILL draw!  All dues payers up to that point will be eligible to win a beautiful Teena Tabor (DG) soap dish and a set of
Susan Pryor (DG and my sister) handmade soaps to use on the that dish.
Connect with us and help us DO GOOD!
All local dues stay in the Kansas City area to support our alumnae activities and philanthropic pursuits.  Imagine what we could accomplish with your support.

Alphapointe is excited to report an influx of clients seeking rehabilitation services! To support this influx, they have requested assistance from the women of Delta Gamma.
  • They would appreciate volunteers in their computer lab on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-noon to read tests to clients and record their answers.
  • They also need a volunteer to assemble files for new clients three hours a week, any day of the week.

Please consider supporting this wonderful organization!

Whether you're available to help once, or every week, the gift of your time would be most welcome. Contact Becky Casey at rebecca.t.casey@gmail.com to express your interest.

Mu Chapter Report

Since last month, the days have flown by for the women of Mu Chapter. Besides Greek Week, where we rocked in Fling, the Blood Drive, and sports competitions, we also participated in Sigma Chi Derby Days, and MizzouThon where our sisters danced for 13.1 hours to raise money for our Miracle Child!

And we hosted a Pure Barre class with our sister sorority, Alpha Phi!

Four of our members were chosen as Pi Chi’s, and will be guiding potential new members through Recruitment next August. If you have a woman you’d like to sponsor, please send her resume and sponsor form to mudgsponsorship@deltagamma.org.

We ended April with Mom’s Weekend. The theme was “You are my Sunshine, my only Sunshine”, and the sun did shine while our Moms were here, as we enjoyed various activities together including NashVegas Friday night, shopping and The Winery Saturday, and a brunch on Sunday.
As we head into May, (and finals!), on behalf of our women, thank you so much for your support, and good luck at Convention. We feel sure the GKC Alumnae Chapter will receive many awards!

In the bonds of sisterhood,

Amber Raub,
Mu Chapter director: alumnae relations.

Beta Kappa Chapter Report

Chapter of the Year!

Delta Gamma Beta Kappa was awarded Chapter of the Year for 2018 by the University of Kansas Panahellenic Association. We are so proud of our present and past CMT members who have put in so much work and for all of our members for the great work we have done as chapter in order to receive this outstanding award.

Senior Brunch & Mom's Weekend

The seniors celebrated their last year with their mom's at DG Mom's Weekend May 13th-15th at a brunch at Maceli's Banquet Hall. The seniors were given gifts from their families and were able to celebrate with their mom's and other members of DG!

We ate, mingled, and were able to bid on amazing gifts given by our amazing moms. We also participated in a pottery class where moms and daughters were able to show their artistic side and paint their own pottery piece. We also partook in a cooking class taught by our very own Chef Michael where we were able to learn great, new cooking tips. Overall, this weekend was one for their books and we already can't wait for next year!

Sisterhood Event at SkyZone

Beta Kappas partook in an awesome sisterhood event at SkyZone on Sunday, April 8th that was organized by our amazing VP Programming, Mucia Burke. We jumped to our hearts content for 2 hours and also got in some exercise!

Cheesy With DG!

Beta Kappa held their spring Philanthropy, "Cheesy with DG" at the Delta Gamma house on Thursday, April 5th. We had such a great time and served many people in the KU community tons of cheesy foods like mac n cheese, queso, breadsticks, and much more. Everyone had a great time raising money for the DG Foundation and we cannot wait to host this awesome event again next year!
