****NEW****

Dear DG Sisters,

Hello DG Sisters and Happy New Year! It’s great to have a few days to look back on 2017 and forward to 2018! DGs in Kansas City have much to be proud of in 2017 – friendships, service, fundraising, interesting and fun programming, support of collegiate chapters and so much more!

Let’s continue to build on these successes and do even better in 2018! Many of you have attended a DG event this year for the first time ever or first time in a while. We’re so glad you came and hope you come back again and again! Resolve to pick a January meeting that fits your schedule and come see what a fabulous bunch of sisters we have here in KC! Call a long lost friend and invite her to Founders Day or gather a table of buddies (they don’t have to be DG’s) and plan to attend our 4th Annual Night of Knowledge & Nonsense.

I’d like to offer a heartfelt mid-year thank you to everyone who is serving on the Alumnae chapter board this year. I’m so grateful for your dedication and talent! You keep us organized & informed, find fun things to do and ways to serve and continually make us better. And speaking of our Board – if someone from the Nominating committee calls you up, please don’t be afraid to pick up the phone and talk with them. You may find an opportunity that is just right for you.

Get ready to make 2018 the best year ever!

In the bonds,
Susan Kastner, Mu

Dear Hannah,

Sorry I didn’t mail you a Christmas card - I hope your holidays are filled with fun, family and friends! Are you going to make any New Years resolutions? I’m starting the year off right with some sisterhood and service—two things that make me feel warm and happy! This January, I’m going to one of the neighborhood gatherings being planned (more info about that in the Programming section) Anyway, I know you LOVE a good party—so why not find one in your neck of the woods? Catch up with sisters and maybe even make a new friend! I hear that each group is making a gift basket for NOKAN. I might bring wine or a gift card—or just wait to see what my hostess suggests. (You remember about NOKAN, right? That’s our big fundraiser in April I’ve been telling you about.)

I’ve been making a list of some other ways to help with NOKAN, like getting a $25 or $50 gift card from my favorite restaurant. These were a HUGE HIT last year—they were gone before Trivia even started! I lucked out because I got one of the few $50 cards—it was to YaYa’s! (Thanks for donating PB&J’s! insert smiley face)

Hannah, I know you can’t spend a lot of money right now, so maybe you could help Alphapointe and CCVI (NOKAN’s primary beneficiaries) by mailing or delivering a letter to your eye doctor. That’s EASY to do! Just tell Cathy Lemon your doctor’s name and the office name—she’ll send you the letter to sign and drop off. But, please do it in the next week or two so yours doctor’s office has time to donate!

I could go on and on, but I don’t want to bore you. Just remember that your help, big or small, is what makes our Night of Knowledge and Nonsense a successful event! So call Cathy Lemon at 816 560-9025 or email cathylemon520@gmail.com.

Love you and see you soon, D.G.Rose

There are lots of ways to help. If you want more information,
please contact Cathy Lemon at 816 560-9025 or cathylemon520@gmail.com.

Friday, April 6, 2018 from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm

Please watch future newsletters for more ways that you can help.

Help CCVI continue to make Happy New Years for our precious children and their parents by joining the 20/20 Club.

CCVI was founded over 65 years ago by our Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter, the Junior League of Kansas City, and the Kansas School for the Blind (now Alphapointe). The 20/20 Club was created to conduct fundraising activities for CCVI, increase community awareness of the school, and provide volunteers while giving its members an opportunity for personal development and lasting relationships.

Membership fees are $40, or $70 a pair, and qualify you for free friendraisers, and discounts on events like SPECTACLE, which was $25 less than the ticket price for members.

Mu Chapter Report

Dear Alumnae, My name is Amber Raub, and as the new director: alumnae relations for Mu Chapter, I will be updating you each month with what is happening here at Mizzou.  There is always so much to share, and I’m happy I get to do that for you. The women of Mu Chapter have completed another successful semester!

After Thanksgiving, we shared many fun and worthwhile activities. We helped the residents at the Candlelight Lodge Retirement Home by decorating the halls, and having a Polish Party for the ladies. Our sisters in St. Louis helped sell trees at the Shining Light tree lot, with the proceeds benefiting their local DG Center for Children with Visual Impairments.

We held our formal officer transitions, and cannot say thank you enough for the devotion of our former Chapter Management Team, and for those who will serve Mu Chapter in 2018. We also said goodbye to three December graduates, and wished them well as they begin a new chapter in their lives.

Our annual Holiday Party was our last event prior to finals week, but many sisters made plans to celebrate the holiday season together. Besides fun-filled movie nights, and making cookies, many members are going on a ski trip in January.

We have been enjoying this break from our studies by relaxing, and with family and friends, but we’re looking forward to getting back with our wonderful sisters soon. As we approach next semester, and on behalf of the women of Mu Chapter, thank you for your continued support!

In the bonds,

Amber Raub, Mu Chapter director: alumnae relations.

Beta Kappa Chapter Report

The girls of Beta Kappa must have been studying for finals and thinking about going home to see their families.  Nothing to report for this newsletter.

Stayed tuned...I'm sure there is more to come.

 A BIG THANK YOU!

CCVI wishes to thank the Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter and its members for the holiday donations. The Chapter made a $500 cash donation, in the spirit of the season, to the CCVI Family Emergency Fund. This fund provides help for low income families with utility bills, medical equipment and often diapers which are not covered by food stamps.

In addition, many generous members attending the Holiday Brunch donated $10 Walmart, Target and Quick Trip gift cards totaling $190.00. CCVI will provide these cards to parents as needed to help fund necessities for their child. Just one more example of the Delta Gamma Do Good philosophy ever present in our Greater Kansas City Chapter.

Founders Day Membership Drawing!

What a great time we had at the Annual Holiday Christmas Brunch! I loved doing the gift bags for Alphapointe, didn't you? We held our first membership drawing for the year, the next will be held at Founders Day. Anyone who has paid dues this year up and until the Founders Day drawing will be entered to win! You do not want to miss out on the chance to win this beautiful pearl and anchor bracelet.
