(1) Adopt-a-Family and (2) Samuel's Trees. Please read below for further details on how you can help during this holiday season. • Adopt-A-Family 2018 •Silver Spur is honored to be a part of the Adopt-A-Family program this holiday season through Harbor Interfaith Services (HIS). HIS is located in San Pedro and provides assistance and services such as housing and job searching to the homeless and working poor. The Adopt-A-Family program is a holiday giving program that pairs a family in need with a sponsor to fulfill their wish list and contribute to help relieve their burden. It is a wonderful way to share the holiday spirit with our neighbors in need. We are lucky to have two families to sponsor this year! The Huerta FamilyMarisela is a single parent to two children- Manuel (17) and America (7). They’ve been receiving help with their basic needs such as food and shelter since Marisela was injured at work. As she recovers, she’s paying her rent but struggling to pay utility bills. Marisela is working to regain her health and confidence & appreciates our help providing her family with a memorable Christmas. The Monaghan-Berthiaume FamilyMelissa & James have a two year old son, Larick. They recently transitioned from shelter to permanent housing. Both parents work and attend school at LBCC to earn their AA degrees. They are so grateful to spend their first Christmas in their own home and appreciate our support to make this a special one for their son.Thank you for making a difference and contributing to make this their best holiday yet! How to participatePlease come by the office to look at their complete Wish Lists and to select an item to purchase for them. We will have 2 separate boxes for each family to collect the wrapped/labeled presents and gift cards- by FRIDAY, DEC. 14th. We will present the gifts to them on behalf of Silver Spur on Saturday, Dec. 15th at the HIS Block Party.
