Birding 301: Advanced Field Methods
1.5 hours – SAS Nature Center and Celery Fields x 2 dates
Nov. 6 at 2:00 PM AND Nov. 8 at 3:30 PM
Instructor: Jamie Rotenberg

"So, you always wanted to be a Park Ranger!"  (2 separate meetings each 1.5 hours – SAS Nature Center and Celery Fields) This course is for experienced birders interested in practical field skills used by professional Avian Biologists. Learn to conduct point counts, line transects, area searches, and systematic foraging observations to assess bird abundance and habitat use.  These quantitative methods along with eBird counts can provide amazing, detailed information.  With the rewilding of the Quad Parcels to the ever-encroaching development into rural areas and wildlands in our Sarasota area, these skills will allow participants to quantify change-over-time outcomes of our bird populations and aid and enhance our conservation efforts.

Limit: 8-10 participants
