Dragon boating is a fun-filled, adrenaline pumping, water sports activity. Teams usually compete
or friends go out and explore New Haven harbor in Dragon Boats, which are large canoe-like
vessels fitted with ornately carved dragon's heads and tails. Crews sit in pairs and paddle with a drummer beating time to keep the paddlers in unison and a helmsperson in the stern guiding the
boat.
Join us at Canal Dock and participate in the annual Dragon Boat Regatta. Teams of 17 people
(16 paddlers and 1 drummer) my enter or individuals may enter and be part of a community boat.
It is a great day of fun with music, competition, food and beverages. Awards given for Team
Spirit, Best Campsite, Best Drummer costume as well as the day’s winner.
