We are the National Association of Commissions for Women (NACW) – the only national professional association connecting women’s commissions in states, counties, and cities across the country. We exist to sustain, strengthen, and advocate for women’s commissions in their work to promote equality and justice for all women and girls and ensure they are represented and empowered in their communities.
Women's commissions are the bridges between government and community. Our members champion the interests and concerns of millions of women and girls in communities throughout the nation. They are playing a significant role in addressing women's and girls' needs through community programming and policy analysis at the local, county, state, and national levels. They are creating a more equitable society with gender parity where all women and girls have equal access to benefits, resources, and opportunities and where governments and elected officials at all levels are engaged and informed so that our nation achieves gender parity.
As the only professional association serving women’s commissions’ board and staff members, NACW:
- Provides best practices and practical tools
- Offers opportunities to develop professional skills and obtain technical support
- Forms alliances with national partners
- Cultivates a national network of supporters
- Communicate the value of women’s commissions
- Tells their story on the national level.
For NACW, the ability not only to respond to the needs of our members but also articulate the value of their contributions to their communities is crucial in sustaining, strengthening, and advocating for their continued existence and success. The stability and strength that has sustained us for more than 45 years is possible in large part to the generosity of donors. A gift to NACW supports the development of critical resources, best practices, and practical tools as well as important policy and community programming for women’s commissions.
