ZETA OMICRON SCHOLARSHIP FUND

DEAR BROTHERS, FAMILY, & FRIENDS,

Please help grow the endowment base of the Zeta Omicron Scholarship Fund at the Sigma Chi Foundation, 501(c)(3), to $250,000.  We are currently awarding two annual $1,000 scholarships, one Fall and one Spring, to recipients who must be:

  • Loyal Active Members-In-Good-Standing of the Zeta Omicron Chapter of Sigma Chi;
  • Full-Time Undergraduate Students of NAU;
  • Leaders in Fraternity-University-Community;

The two scholarships are:

The President John Oscar "J. O." Creager Fall Semester Scholarship ($1,000), named in honor of Sigma Chi Brother Dr. J. O. Creager, Ph.D., ARIZONA 1897, 1st Charter Member of Beta Phi Chapter at the University of Arizona, and
4th President of Northern Arizona University (1919-1920) [then Northern Arizona Normal School] "...who restored order and confidence to the campus after Dr. [President] Blome's [undeserved] ouster." Source:

The Dr. George H. Yard, M.D. Spring
Semester Scholarsh
ip - $1,000, honoring Sigma Chi Brother
Dr. George Yard, M.D., ARIZONA 1953, 1st Chapter Advisor to both Sigma Chi Omega Colony and Zeta Omicron Chapter of Sigma Chi, native of Bisbee, Arizona, Past-Consul of Beta Phi Chapter at the University of Arizona, former director of the NAU Student Health Center [then Arizona State College], longtime northern Arizona physician-cattle rancher, founder of all alumni efforts to support Sigma Chi at NAU, hugely responsible for Zeta Omicron Chapter gaining its charter, and to whom Zeta Omicron Chapter's Petition-For-Charter was dedicated.

The Zeta Omicron Scholarship Fund #4648 is a restricted fund for use only for the Zeta Omicron Chapter of Sigma Chi Fraternity at Northern Arizona University.  It is held by the Sigma Chi Foundation, a charitable and educational 501(c)(3) non-profit Illinois corporation founded in 1939.  ALL DONATIONS are tax-deductible to the extent allowable by law (Federal Tax ID# 36-2208386).  ALL DONATIONS through MemberPlanet will be forwarded directly to the Fund at the Sigma Chi Foundation.  The Foundation will issue an Official Gift Receipt directly to the donor.  Your correct mailing address is important.  For the online convenience of using MemberPlanet, 4.4% 30 cents is added to each online donation.
