Program Highlight:
Harpsichord and Baritone Celebrate Water Music at Chautauqua

Larry Palmer, SMU Professor Emeritus of Harpsichord and Organ, brings his beautiful harpsichord music back to the Chautauqua stage to help celebrate "Water Music"!  He will also bring one of his 6 harpsichords.   With him will be baritone Daniel Bouchard and together they will lend their glorious tones and inspiring music to the celebration of water – going from Baroque to Broadway, including a part of Handel's famous "Water Music".

Dr. Palmer retired in 2015 as chair of SMU's Dept. of Organ and Harpsichord.  He is internationally known as performer, scholar, and teacher. Educated at Oberlin College Conservatory and the Eastman School of Music, Dr. Larry Palmer is internationally known as performer, scholar, and teacher.

In 2000, Dr. Palmer was the first to agree to perform for the revived Waxahachie Chautauqua, giving us confidence that we might really be able to make a go of it!  He will be available after his 2pm performance for up close viewing of the harpsichord.

Dallas-based baritone, Daniel Bouchard, is a graduate of Southern Methodist University and currently serves as Director of Choir and Keyboards at John Paul II High School in Plano, TX. Recent credits include W. A. Mozart’s La Finta Giardiniera (Nardo) and Benjamin Britten’s Albert Herring (Mr. Gedge) with Meadows Opera Theatre, as well as Sigmund Romberg’s The New Moon with Lyric Stage. He has also partnered with Texas Winds Musical Outreach as a featured soloist.

This program is being sponsored by Pettigrew Academy
and Jerry R. Ellis, DDS!

Don't forget that these water bottles will be available at the Chautauqua on Sept.24 for a requested donation of $3.00. And H-E-B will be there to keep your bottles filled for you all day long!
