GET MARRIED AT THE CHAUTAUQUA!
The Chautauqua Auditorium is a popular place for weddings these days.  It is definitely a gorgeous and charming open-air building in a beautiful 22-acre shaded park.  John Smith tells us he is already taking reservations for weddings in 2017.  To find out about renting the building, go to Rent Auditorium.

It’s time for the first-ever Chautauqua Game Show!

Join us this Friday, July 15 at 7pm at the Ellis County Women’s Building (407 W. Jefferson, Waxahachie TX) for this fun-filled, family interactive celebration of our Chautauqua and our Water!

Actor, writer and producer Rob McCollum, will be our host and quiz master and he is currently busy deciding on quiz questions - but he tells us that no one is expected to know the answers!!

You can volunteer to be a contestant or you can sit back and enjoy the show. Music about water provided by Waxahachie musicians Gary Low and Robin Kirk Fox.

Admission is free and all are welcome.  Come if you are a Chautauqua member - past, present or future.  Or come if you are just curious about the Waxahachie Chautauqua. To learn more, visit www.WaxahachieChautauqua.org or call 972-937-8887.

Thanks to H-E-B for their support of the Waxahachie Chautauqua and of the new Chautauqua Game Show!

Bring A Little Water to Chautauqua
on Sept. 24!
Chautauqua Lake in western NY will provide the first drops of water that will be collected at the Waxahachie Assembly on 9/24.  The shores of this lake are home to "Mother Chautauqua." And Chautauqua Lake gave its name to that new movement in 1874. (Remembering this fact may give you an advantage in Friday's Chautauqua Game Show!)

Many say that Chautauqua is a Seneca word meaning "bag tied in the middle" because of the shape of this lake.

Be sure to bring a little water to the Chautauqua Assembly on Sept. 24 - from your favorite river, lake, creek, ocean, well, tank, pond or any other wet source.  You can add it to the collection!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY,
WAXAHACHIE CHAUTAUQUA!
Waxahachie Chautauqua
July 26 - August 6, 1900

JULY 26th  will mark the 116th anniversary of the beginning of the very first Waxahachie Chautauqua Summer Assembly & Encampment.

On July 26, 1900, the Chautauqua began along the creek in Waxahachie's West End Park in the newly developed West End Addition. More than 75 tents had been erected in the Park.  The Assembly Hall for that first Chautauqua Assembly was a pavilion that had already been built in 1890.
